Meet Nabeel: The Guy Who Makes the Deals Happen at Routefusion‍

Ever wondered what three decades (!!!) in FX and Payments look like? Just ask Nabeel Siddiqui, our CRO & Co-founder, Head of FX Risk Solutions.

From Overseas to Overachiever.  Born overseas and raised in Toronto, Nabeel now calls the great state of Texas—home to Routefusion—his base. Despite living in NYC for over 20 years and spending a few more in Austin, his Toronto pride remains strong, especially when it comes to sports. And yes, he’s still cheering for the Leafs, even when they do what they do best: let him down (his words, not mine!).

Nabeel’s Deep Dive into the Payments Industry

He’s been in the game since the mid-90s (Gen X, baby), back when the internet was still figuring itself out (he says he misses the dial-up static), and international payments were basically a high-stakes version of “guess the currency rate.” Nabeel’s journey in the payments and FX industry has been both extensive and impactful.

Currently, as the CRO and co-founder of Routefusion, Nabeel is at the helm of a company revolutionizing cross-border payments with cutting-edge API solutions. His leadership has been instrumental in building Routefusion’s reputation as a one-stop-shop for international payment needs, connecting businesses with multiple banking, FX, and local payout partners worldwide.

Before Routefusion, Nabeel served as Vice President of North America at Currencycloud, where he played a key role in expanding the company’s footprint in the North American and LATAM markets. He built strong relationships with senior executives, drove revenue growth through strategic market analysis, and led a high-performing team to new heights in the industry.

As a founding member of AscendantFX, Nabeel was instrumental in establishing its U.S. presence from the ground up. His responsibilities included developing tailored FX solutions, designing proprietary platforms, and leading the company’s efforts in international payments. His work laid the foundation for AscendantFX’s success as a nimble, client-focused fintech firm.

Nabeel also held key roles at AFEX as Head of Embedded Payment Solutions Sales, RBC Capital Markets as Vice President of Fixed Income & Currencies, and Custom House Global Foreign Exchange as Director of Corporate Foreign Exchange. In each of these positions, he leveraged his deep expertise in FX and global banking to drive significant growth and innovation.

Despite their many, many disappointments, Nabeel’s dedication to the Leafs never wavers—a quality that’s just as strong in his commitment to Routefusion and its mission.
